New Season Drawings (2026)
Drawing has encouraged and enabled a variant in visual language much different from the physical process of oil painting. The touch I use on these charcoal and graphite drawings is decidedly more tender, delicate for these works. Each drawing starts with a toned surface, and erasure reveals the lights, darks, and shapes. Textures, space, and forms are developed by using erasers and various additive marks in each media, rolling, ruling, breaking, brushing, flicking, and tapping the imagery and textures into being from foreground to background. The sensory nature of of this media lends itself to the emotional charge of the visual metaphor.
